FROM THE BEGINNING...

I founded Gift of Time after seeing so many companies and their leaders struggle.  And it wasn’t just the companies that were performing poorly.  Even the ones that were quite profitable, when I got a chance to speak with their leaders, were not as “successful” as they appeared on the outside.  It really bothered me that so many people in all these companies come to work every day were not truly happy.  There had to be a better way.  


Convincing thousands of people to go away on a weekend retreat to “discover” themselves did not seem realistic to me.  So instead, I drew upon my experience as a classically trained business guy with twenty years of experience in leadership roles for both large and entrepreneurial companies to develop a practical solution. 


The fundamental belief was that if people could work on projects that they enjoy, for/with people that they respected, in an environment that felt both supportive and collaborative, that they would be more productive and successful, and much happier. 


I drew back to my experience of being a turn-around President/CEO and reflected on precisely what we did to improve performance and moral.  The companies varied greatly in their size and industry, but there were some common themes.  When we got the Strategy, People, and Operational Design/Implementation correct, the companies and their people began to thrive. 


And in December 2015, I decided to start Gift of Time with the goal of helping hundreds of companies and their thousands of employees become more productive and happier.
